Old Truman Brewery, London
Giles Duley was another photographer who dealt with the refugee crisis in a way that challenged the traditional idea of an exhibition. The powerful prints here were part of a bigger, more ambitious environment in which storytelling, live music, talks, creative collaborations and a nightly “supper gathering” combined to create, as Duley put it, “a space where stories will be shared and action inspired”. With both a writer and artist in residence as well as an ambient soundscape provided by Robert “3D” del Naja from Massive Attack, this was an exhibition as both collective conversation and creative activism.
